Small Groups for

Safer and Better Learning

About LearnPod

Schools and learning institutions have been amongst the most affected by Covid-19. All across the board, learning institutions have been forced to shut down as people come to terms with this pandemic. With the current issues and problems caused by the Covid-19, governments struggle to find a safe way to allow our children to go back to school. Without a vaccine, online learning and social distancing is the best we can do to keep our children safe.

We know that there are many schools in Malaysia that struggle with overcrowding. A single class sometimes accommodates up to 40 students, or even more. In this situation, there will be insufficient space to cater for the recommended distance. Alternatively, schools may resort to alternate schooling days or two school sessions to space out the students, but this would then lead to other issues, for example, childcare.

With this in mind, we at Science Bridge Academy have developed a solution for this situation, which we like to call "LearnPod". LearnPods are small learning centres or communities which have no more than 2 classes in a session, with a maximum of 10 students per class. This way it would be much easier to monitor the health and safety of the students. The classes will be run according to the Malaysian National Curriculum, thus enabling a smooth transition between schools. Classes will be run in suitable learning spaces that are spacious enough to allow for social distancing measures.

FAQs

When is the intake?

We are aiming to start in end-June / July. Since we only have 10 kids per class, we are able to start earlier.

Does this follow the Malaysian National Curriculum?

Yes, all our core subjects will be based on the Malaysian national curriculum. However since we have small classes we will explore each subject in depth.

What are the fees?

Please click on the "Admissions and Fees" schedule for more information.

The class schedule will be explained in the webinar/virtual tour.

May I enrol my child for the summer only?

Yes, we can allow you to enrol your child just for the summer holidays. Kindly contact us about this as the terms are slightly different.

What language will the subjects be taught in?

All subjects will be taught in English except for Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. However, we are considering whether to teach Maths in Mandarin depending on the student cohort.

What teaching methodology will you be using?

It will be a mix of face-to-face and online methods. Children will also be using devices to enable them to learn coding and other relevant subjects. We also aim to incorporate project-based learning where possible.

What should I do to pull my child out from govt school?

It is best to check with the local PPD (Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah), but we have also heard that it is as simple as writing a letter to your child's school. Please contact your child's school to find out.

“Be stubborn about your goals but flexible about your methods.”
